Who I Am
Although I have spent 15+ years in the digital marketing industry, my experience in business actually started in finance.
After finishing school, I worked for nearly five years as a Business Support Officer at National Westminster Bank, gaining foundational experience in finance. In 2004, I advanced to Branch Manager at HFC Bank, where I spent three years gaining experience in a managerial role. By 2007, I moved on to the role of Business Development Manager at Advantage Home Loans before deciding to take the leap and start my own company, Advanced Finance Limited, in January 2008. This marked a significant shift in my career…
After hiring an agency to help promote the company, I wasn’t seeing the results I’d been hoping for. Researching into search engine optimisation (SEO) myself, I learnt all I could about best practices and techniques for building online visibility. Once I began to implement these techniques, I found it soon elevated Advanced Finance up through the search engine results pages (SERPs) and into position 1 on Google – that’s more like it!
Catching the eye of a leading price comparison website who then purchased the site, I turned my full attention to the world of search and how I could help other businesses achieve similar results. In June 2008, I started up a brand-new SEO agency of my own – SEO Positive – which has since evolved into Absolute Digital Media, and I’ve never looked back.

How I Built A Multi-Award-Winning Digital Marketing Agency
I initially developed the business so that I could offer my expert knowledge and experience to local businesses with SEO services in Essex as well as across the UK. We operated intending to achieve first-page positions on Google for our clients wherever we could, putting together strategies that catered to SEO best practices, user experience (UX) and brand identity.
With the expertise I’d built up through my own website, as well as plenty of experience in sales and the finance industry, alongside the expert marketing knowledge of our in-house staff, SEO Positive gained significant respect from other SEO and web design companies. We even secured our first award win from TopSEOs back in 2010.
Throughout the time I was running SEO Positive, we worked with a number of large and small companies, including some well-known, established brands. Eventually, due to the natural growth of the company and the expanding skillset of our in-house staff, it became clear it was time to evolve, rebranding the agency to offer more services and better position ourselves in the industry.
In May 2012, SEO Positive became what it is today – Absolute Digital Media.
From our former office based in Chelmsford, it enabled me and the team to showcase the company as more than just SEO experts in Essex – we were now also PPC, link building, content marketing, social media and web design experts to name a few.
Now a fully remote digital marketing agency, the company has come a long way since I had the initial idea all those years ago. We’re now one of the longest-running agencies in the UK and I couldn’t be happier with where we are now.
